I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our customers for their business in 2021 and write to everyone at Classic Lifts to thank them for their individual contribution during what has been a year of recovery following the impact of Covid-19 in 2020. I’d also like to provide you with an insight into how Classic Lifts is organising itself to meet the industry market demands predicted for 2022.
We have achieved some key milestones in our company performance in 2021, the 31st year of Classic Lifts being in business.
Earlier this year we focused on securing our service portfolio to rebuild from the effects of the 2020 Covid business shutdowns and I’m pleased to say that we subsequently achieved great growth in 2021 with some notable new customers being HMCTS (430 units Nationwide), Karbon Homes (87 units Northeast), West/ South Yorkshire Police (61 units Sheffield), Ladbrokes/ Coral (33 units Nationwide), and SCS (110 units Nationwide). Today our portfolio is over 6500 units(22% improvement over last year).
We have continued to grow our Major Projects business again this year and completed some impressive major projects installations such as bespoke lifts at Old Admiralty Building, London, specialised lift installations on The Humber Bridge and special units for Wilco’s Sunderland. We continue to make good progress on other significant projects such as One Strand London, Barnsley Hospital, RVI Newcastle and 111 Piccadilly Manchester which will complete over the coming 24 months.
Our company is dependent on the customers we serve and the people who work within it and therefore I would like to share some headlines figures of the results we have achieved together during 2021. These figures indicate strong company performance and shows we have bounced back strongly after the uncertainty of 2020. I’d like to thank everyone for their continued support and work ethic which have enabled us to provide quality outcomes for our customers and achieve these great results: –
Measure | +/- Variance from 2020 |
Number of employees | +12.0% |
Number of service units | +22.0% |
Service Dept turnover | +26.5% |
New Lifts/Mods installed | +61.5% |
New lift turnover | +34.6% |
Company turnover | +31.0% |
The improvement in our financial results has allowed us to invest back into the business and particularly into the training and development of our people. Currently of our total 185 employees, 26 individuals are Apprentices or Trainees.
Our improved service portfolio and a strong order book allows us to look forward to 2022 with great positivity and the continued company growth means that we will be again investing in the organisational structure in certain areas to allow our continued success and retain focus on our key company principles.
Business is a team “game” and everyone plays an important part in making it all work well. Our Installations and Service contracts represent the lifeblood of the company, and I can’t emphasise enough how important it is that we continue to do this well, in addition to maintaining the critical relationships our engineers have with our customers. How Classic Lifts conduct and execute maintenance, repair and installation of lifts together with how we present ourselves and provide service to our customers really makes all the difference.
Our focus for 2022 is to continually improve our employee skill and knowledge levels, develop our customer relationships to allow the workflow to continue and of course to work safely.
Classic Lifts remains in a strong position to move forward structurally and financially and I trust you share my view for a positive 2022.
Thanks again for your contribution in 2021, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your families.
Kind Regards
AJ Crane
